Benefits
Benefits
Now!
Having worked all my life, when ARC forced me to give
it up, I was lost in the UK Benefits System. It was all
double dutch to me and I didn't know what to claim for
or how to go about it. Had I have found this site a year
earlier then I would not have been trying to keep the
roof over my head and feed both myself and the dog on
£13 a week, for visitors to a UK site that is a
tiny amount of money. As I did not then I have a duty
to point it out to others who may be in that situation.
Here you will find everything explained in plain English.
Motability
For those of you who have managed to fight your way through
the system and are in reciept of Disability Living Allowance
this is the place for you. Besides telling you exactly
what Motability is, it goes on to list suppliers and prices.
Not a place for the disinterested general surfer unless,
that is, unless they have a relative who might need this
organisation's services, or, they might like to see where
those wee scooters and sporty wheelchairs come from and
who uses them.

Ancient Texts - Something
completely different
Plato's
Dialogues
In French or English, all the works of this great philosopher
and much more. His bigoraphy is included along with maps
of the ancient world, discussions and theories. Bernard
Suzanne has created a beautiful site which, with it's
easily read texts, opens up a whole new world for those
of us with an interest in the subject matter, whilst not
boring the pants off of folks passing through on an internet
wave.
Antiques and Collectables
Roger's
Antiques Site
As a person who has worked in the Antiques World, although
at a fairly low level, this site is heaven to me, especially
as my speciality is pottery and collectables. But, don't
let that "p" word put you off, there is much
more to Roger's carefully crafted abode on the Internet.
Amongst his goodies you are bound to find something you
like, whether you are on shopping surf or just inquisitive.
Did I say it was a great site for lovers of bargains too!
Heathcote-Ball
& Company - Fine Antiques and Arts Auctioneers
Here we are on Clara.net again with another great looking
and very informative site. Where Roger's site is a great
place for those interested in smaller and less expensive
purchases, this is a site for those with deep pockets.
Whoever built this should congratulate themselves daily
on a job well done. Besides displaying both their old
and new catalogues, they also give the visitor some very
good instructions about how to act and how to bid at auctions.
If you are a collector or just a fan of TV Antiques Programmes
this is one place you must visit.
Archaeology
Recent
Archaeological Research in Lewis
As you may have guessed by now, I have a love of all things
old. That includes being fascinated by those, learned
scholars with trowels and, sometimes a JCB, who are prepared
to climb into large holes in the ground in the pursuit
of historical artifacts amongst the mud or dust. The Western
Isles of Scotland are, archaelogically speaking, rich
in finds from the many different peoples who have populated
the island since the dawn of history. Besides scholarly
interests they comprise of some of the most dramatically
beautiful views in the world.
